The Internal Audit process

Audit procedures conducted by Oz Canadian Consulting to check a training institute’s compliance with regulatory requirements, By-Laws, and Standards of Quality are highly professional and in detail. This will help you understand where your institute is as per regulatory requirements.

An internal audit will comprise:

  • an opening meeting

  • evidence gathering

  • an exit meeting.

Audit times vary according to the complexity of the institute's business. On average, audits take six to ten hours to complete, although some audits can take two to three days.

The opening meeting

During the opening meeting, our auditor will confirm the purpose and scope of the audit and describe the methods the audit team will use to gather evidence of the institute's compliance with regulatory requirements, bylaws, and standards. The lead auditor of Oz Canadian Consulting, the chief executive officer/director of the institute, and the staff member appointed to accompany the audit team must attend the opening meeting.

Evidence gathering

Our Auditors  gather evidence through a variety of techniques such as:

  • Examining institutes documents and records

  • Talking with trainers, learners and the employers of learners for practicum training

  • Observing the training institute practice

  • Viewing training institute resources and facilities.

During the audit, the audit team makes notes of their observations and should discuss their findings with the training institute staff member accompanying them. The training institute must fully cooperate with the audit team and the audit process, taking all reasonable steps to present evidence that demonstrates its compliance. The training institute will be given opportunities to provide additional evidence where the initial evidence does not confirm compliance with bylaws and standards of quality.

The exit meeting

In the exit meeting, our auditor provides the training institute with written or verbal feedback on the findings. In response, the training institute can ask questions and provide more information. This process allows the auditor and training institute to discuss strategies for addressing findings. Our auditor, the chief executive officer/director of the training institute, and the staff member appointed to accompany the audit team must attend the exit meeting.
